1.Low Power Consumption

From the shape design to the use way, everything is designed with the lowest power consumption. In order to reduce power consumption,

low-power Bluetooth devices will be in sleep mode for most of the time. When an activity occurs, the devices are automatically woken up and send a text message to the gateway, personal computer, or smartphone. When using, the power consumption is reduced to one-tenth of the power consumption of the traditional Bluetooth. SKYLAB Beacon is integrated based on the low-power Bluetooth module, and a button battery can be used for 3 years!

2.High cost-effectiveness and Compatibility

In order to be compatible with traditional Bluetooth technology and to achieve the cost-effectiveness of small battery-powered equipment, there are two chipsets to choose from.

  • Dual-mode technology with low-power Bluetooth technology and the functions of traditional Bluetooth.
  • Pure low-power Bluetooth technology mainly with low cost and low power consumption, and optimized for small battery-powered devices.

3.Stability, Safety and Reliability

Low-power Bluetooth technology uses the same adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) technology as traditional Bluetooth technology, so it can ensure that low-power Bluetooth can keep the stable transmission in “noisy” radio environments in residential, industrial and medical applications. In order to minimize the cost and power consumption of using AFH, low-power Bluetooth technology has reduced the number of channels from the 79 1-MHz wide channel of traditional Bluetooth technology to 40 2-MHz wide channels.

4.Wireless coexistence

Bluetooth technology, wireless LAN, IEEE 802.15.4 / wireless personal area networks, and many proprietary radios use the 2.4 GHz Industrial Science Medical (ISM) band without authentication. Due to the excessive number of technologies that share this radio wave space, wireless performance can be degraded by error correction and repetitive transmission because of interference (such as latency increasing and throughput reduction). In the strict demanding applications, interference can be reduced by frequency planning and special antenna design. Because both traditional Bluetooth and low-power Bluetooth use this AFH technology which can minimize the interference of other radio technology, the Bluetooth transmission has excellent stability and reliability.

5. Connection range

Low-power Bluetooth technology modulation is slightly different from traditional Bluetooth technology. This different modulation achieves a connection range of up to 300 meters with a 10 dBm wireless chipset (the maximum power of low-power Bluetooth).

6.Ease of use and integration

Low-power Bluetooth piconet is typically based on a master device connected to multiple slave devices. In piconet, all devices are either master devices or slave device, but not as the master devices and slave devices at the same time. The master device controls the communication frequency of the slave device, and the slave device can only communicate according to the requirements of the master device. Compared to traditional Bluetooth technology, low-power Bluetooth technology adds a new function which is the “broadcast” function. With this function, the slave device can inform that it needs to send data to the master device. The broadcast message also includes an active or measured value.
